By appropriating in a carnivalesque way the cityâs visible surfaces, street art functions as a fearless act of social and political resistance against commodified uses of urban spaces.

Francisco de PĂĄjaro is a Spanish artist, born in Zafra in 1970. He adopts a stylized alter-ego named Art is Trash when he wanders the street with feathers in his hair and a backpack full of paint. This character is âa devil ready to spit on everyone,â in the artistâs words, with critical messages expressed on the gentrified streets of late capitalism.
