Summer/Autumn 2025

We are not documentarians. We do not simply present the cultural happenings of Sarajevo as a journalist or historian might. Rather, this project aims at changing the conditions under which art and music and creative life in general happen in this city, as well as representing, documenting, and promoting it.

Have we been entirely successful in that effort, in ā€œchanging the conditionsā€ of Sarajevo’s cultural scene? No, of course not, not even close. The road is long, though, this is an independent project, and it is not supposed to be easy.

We are moving forward, despite the difficulties. This edition represents something of a new start for Punkura, taking us in a more regular and sustainable direction. In that vein, we’d humbly ask you to pay special attention to the pamphlet included in this issue. There you will find an explanation of the reader-support model // Model čitalačke podrÅ”ke // that we would like to implement more strongly going forward.

Finally, it’s essential to mention that we are not alone in our frustration with the status quo and desire to change it. In the time since our last issue was released, we have seen the emergence of a great number of movements and protests in our region—marches against the genocide in Palestine, student led protests in Serbia, the recent boycotts in response to high prices, and many more.

These are all essential causes, and the more of us who take on the responsibility of making a positive change, the less each of us will have to carry.
